It's Been A While

I know I haven't been able to update this music blog as of late but there's this thing called LIFE that somehow takes control of things you wish you could just rip yourself up into many parts doing all different things you wanna do at the same time. Got You Where I Want You by Virgil

Why this band didn't reach worldwide success is beyond me but I am glad I had the pleasure of sampling their songs and that there are people worldwide who posted their video on youtube sharing this band's awesome musical ingenuity. I discovered them when one of their songs was played on one of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer episodes, am a huge fan of BTVS and on that episode where Willow got really bad and turned almost everybody on the bar into animals the band played the song "Vermillion Borders" by Virgil. Doing a bit of research led me to finding another great song from the band and that's Got You Where I Want You, seems to be the one song with music video. Check it out below.

3 Libras - Adam Monroe (A Perfect Circle Cover)

RJ gave me the URL for the youtube video of Adam Monroe performing a cover of A Perfect Circle's 3 Libras and boy I must say it's darn good. Am not a huge fan of Maynard but I listen to both Tool and A Perfect Circle (musical influence from having male friends), hearing Adam on the piano with this song was just amazing. It was stunning and I know many of Maynard's fan would say the same ... he didn't ruin the song unlike some of the many wanna be covers I've heard of different rock/alt songs.

First Band

RJ was online and we were talking about a bunch of other stuff when she said that Vince asked what was the very first band that I ever liked, we just found out that we both are major fans of Incubus. He said he his first ever favorite band was Silverchair and I said mine was Soul Asylum still is a an absolute fave of mine. Too bad he didn't know them ... told him the band came into fame around 1992 and that I was 7 when they released Let Your Dim Lights Shine.

Old school? Yeah, I am stuck in those ages. Can we rewound time???

People often wondered why I listen to what I listen given of my genteel and very introverted nature. It didn't occur to me that how people perceive of your appearance goes all the way to your listening preferences. *sigh* When someone heard this playing on my iPod, he reacted by asking for my age and said this was beyond my time .... and I was like yeah, the first band I ever liked was Soul Asylum, I was 7 when they became a huge hit.
