I'm About To Come Alive by Train

I only heard this song once on the radio, I was in my first year college and I cannot get it off my head, prolly one of my favorite songs of all time.  Let's take a look at the lyrics below and watch Pat Monahan sing his heart out on the music video.

I can hear you downstairs crying on the phone
Telling someone that I'm here but you still feel all alone
Maybe we were too young
Goodbye, I've gotta go
I can hear the baby waking up
Got to get back to the life I know

I should have never believed him
Maybe I should just leave him

Maybe I'm not but you're all I got left to believe in
Don't give up on me
I'm about to come alive
And I know that it's been hard
And it's been a long time coming
Don't give up on me
I'm about to come alive

No one thought I was good enough for you
Except for you
Don't let them be right
After all that we've been through
'Cause somewhere over that rainbow
There's a place for me
A place with you

In every frame upon our wall
Lies a face that's seen it all
Through ups and downs and then more downs
We helped each other off of the ground
No one knows what we've been through
Making it ain't making it without you

Movie Time: Drive Me Crazy

I was watching "Drive Me Crazy" for the nth time, it stars Melissa Joan Hart and Adrian Grenier, another teeny bopper movie in the late 90's. As part of the marketing the movie was titled based on Britney's song, "Drive Me Crazy" but I guess it didn't make much impact as the movie didn't have do much in terms of sales. But I like the movie just the same.

There was a part of the movie in the elevator which had this song playing ... had the the following lines .. here we go something tells me we've been here before ... searched it via google and realized that the title of the song is "Is This Really Happening To Me" by Phantom Planet.  It's a really nice sooooooong! Hehehe

Belle of the Boulevard by Dashboard Confessional

I absolutely looooooooooove this song! A new single from Dashboard's latest album: Alter the Ending. Let's watch the video ..

Down in a local bar
Out on the boulevard
The sound of an old guitar
Is saving you from sinking
It's a long way down
It's a long way

Back like you never broke
You tell a dirty joke
He touches your leg and thinks he's getting close
For now you let him just this once
Just for now
And just like that - it's over

[Chorus]
Don't turn away
Dry your eyes, dry your eyes
Don't be afraid
Keep it all inside, all inside
When you fall apart
Dry your eyes, dry your eyes
Life is always hard for the belle of the boulevard

In all your silver rings
And all your silken things
That song you softly sing - is keeping you from breaking
It's a long way down
It's a long way

Back here you never loved
You shake the shivers off
You take a drink to get your courage up
Can you believe it
Just this once
Just for now
And just like that
It's over

[Chorus]

Please hold on - it's alright
Please hold on - it's alright
Please hold on

Down in a local bar
Out on the boulevard
The sound of an old guitar
is saving you

[Chorus x2]

I have been listening to Sukiyaki by 4PM for a while now heck since I was in high school and I've only learned last year that the original version was by Kyu Sakamoto and it's in total Japanese. I have included the song in my Sweetest Symphony playlist as I absolutely adore it and I find it really really sweet. Let's listen to it now shall we?

The World I Know by Collective Soul

Have you seen Varsity Blues? It's a teenage oldie from the late 90's and it stars the cutie from Dawson's Creek, James Van Der Beek. I haven't watched it again but I remembered the song that goes with the movie ... The World I Know by Collective Soul. Take a look at the video and the lyrics ...

Has our conscience shown?
Has the sweet breeze blown?
Has all the kindness gone?
Hope still lingers on
I drink myself of newfound pity
Sitting alone in New York City
And I don't know why
Are we listening
To hymns of offering?
Have we eyes to see
That love is gathering?
All the words that I've been reading
Have now started the act of bleeding
Into one...into one...

So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world below
And I laugh at myself
While the tears roll down
'Cause it's the world I know
Oh it's the world I know

I drink myself of newfound pity
Sitting alone in New York City
And I don't know why..don't know why...

So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world below
And I laugh at myself
While the tears roll down
'Cause it's the world I know
Oh it's the world I know

So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world belo
And I laugh at myself
While the tears roll down
'Cause it's the world I know
Oh it's the world I know

Snow On The Sahara by Anggun

I am reminded of this song when I saw Bena post it as a shout out in IM it sure reminded me of high school days; now I love the voice of Anggun and of how ironic the song sounds. So lets take a look at Anggun's Snow On The Sahara.

Only tell me that you still want me here
When you wander off out there
To those hills of dust and hard winds that blow
In that dry white ocean alone

Lost out in the desert
you are lost out in the desert

But to stand with you in a ring of fire
I'll forget the days gone by
I'll protect your body and guard your soul
From mirages in your sight

Lost out in the desert

If your hope scatter like the dust across your track
I'll be the moon that shines on your path
The sun may blind our eyes, I'll pray the skies above
for snow to fall on the Sahara
If that's the only place where you can leave your doubts
I'll hold you up and be your way out
And if we burn away, I'll pray the skies above
for snow to fall on the Sahara

Just a wish and I will cover your shoulders
With veils of silk and gold
When the shadows come and darken your heart
Leaving you with regrets so cold

Lost out in the desert

If your hope scatter like the dust across your track
I'll be the moon that shines on your path
The sun may blind our eyes, I'll pray the skies above
for snow to fall on the Sahara
If that's the only place where you can leave your doubts
I'll hold you up and be your way out
And if we burn away, I'll pray the skies above
for snow to fall on the Sahara

Get Up by Superchick

I was watching Bring It On - In It To Win It, the 2007 movie with Jennifer Tisdale and I heard this song playing in one of the scenes. It was a rather catchy tune so I did a bit of googling and found the title as well as the artist. It's called Get Up by Superchick, let's take a look at the lyrics and hear the song below now shall we?
I'm not afraid to fall
It means I climbed up high
To fall is not to fail
You fail when you don't try
I'm not afraid to fall
I might just learn to fly
And I will spread these wings of mine.

If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let's get up, c'mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let's get up, c'mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
And I might fall back down again
And we'll, just jump and see
Even if it's the twentieth time
We'll just jump and see if we can fly.

I'm not afraid to fall
And here I told you so
Don't want to rock the boat
But I just had to know
Just a greener side
Or can I touch the sky
But either way I will try.

If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let's get up, c'mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let's get up, c'mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
And I might fall back down again
And well, just jump and see
Even if it's the thirtieth time
We'll just jump and see if we can fly.

I'm not afraid to fall
I've fallen many times
They laughed when I fell down
But I have dared to climb
I'm not afraid to fall
I know I'll fall again
But I can win this in the end.

If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let's get up, c'mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let's get up, c'mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
And I might fall back down again
And well, just jump and see
Even if it's the fortieth time
We'll just jump and see if we can fly.

If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let's get up, c'mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up, I might fall back down again
So let's get up, c'mon
If I get up, I might fall back down again
And I might fall back down again.

Say Yes by Elliott Smith

I was watching American Pie Book of Love and there's this song playing in one of the scenes which caught my attention was the first line of the song which goes, "I'm in love with the world through the eyes of the world whose still around the morning after." Take a look at the complete lyrics below:

im in love with the world
through the eyes of a girl
who's still around the morning after
we broke up a month ago
when i grew up i didn't know
i'd be around the morning after

it's always been wait and see
a happy day and then you pay
you feel like shit the morning after
now i feel changed around
and instead of falling down
im standing up the morning after

situations get fucked up
turned around sooner or later
i could be another fool
or an exception to the rule
you tell me the morning after

crooked spin can't come to rest
im damaged bad at best
she'll decide what she wants
i'll probably be the last to know
no one says until it shows
see how it is...
they want you or they dont
SAY YES
i'm in love with the world
through the eyes of a girl
who's still around the morning after

I Melt With You by Modern English

This song reminded me of Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler on 51st Dates and how I find the movie hilariously romantic. I must have watched it several times and still get the giggles after ... lol Here's Modern English with I Melt With You.

Close To Heaven by Color Me Badd

Cyril had this on her iPod and I remembered how I use to sing this song over and over back in my high school days. I fell in love with the voice and the lyrics of the song and swore that I'll marry the next guy who'll sing me this song. lol

You know you're the only one for me
The thought of you picks me up when I'm lonely
I get all crazy when you call out my name
I'm close to heaven when you're touching me

You've said that you love me, girl, I know it
I feel the same but still so afraid to show it
I get all crazy when you call out my name
I'm close to heaven when you're touching me

Reff: It's gotta be love (love), sweet love (sweet love)
Whenever you near me (whenever you near me), ooh you make me happy baby
Love (love), sweet love (sweet love)
Whenever you near me (whenever you near me), ooh you make me happy baby

Me vuelvo loco pensando en tu amor
Cuando te veo, tiemblo por tu calor
cerca del cielo, al mar de mi corazón
Mis labios brillan llenos de emoción.

(back to Reff:)

All I wanted, all I ever wanted was you and for you to love me
You keep me warm and you give me love, I know you're the one for me

(back to (1))

(Querida), mi vida, soñando así
Esta canción que estoy cantando es sólo para ti
Mirarte, tocarte, besarte así
Ya no lo aguanto más, heaven's only one kiss away
